The shortcomings of the Galaxy Watch, simply put, were like taking care of a very talkative and an excessively talented child. The Galaxy Watch completely outplayed the functionalities of other watchmakers I’ve previously experienced. There were plenty of advantages such as the watch being waterproof down to 50 meters despite having a speaker, military-grade shock resistance, sufficient battery capacity, extremely fast charging, easily placeable charging cradle, high connectivity with the smartphone and the ticking sound of mechanic watch hands. High-end watch lovers will applaud and cheer about the part that various displays can be selected, and diverse reflections can be made depending on the angle when the Guillocher(a technique of repetitively engraving intricate patterns like tree rings) dial is selected. But the Galaxy Watch thoroughly provides all data one could be curious about such as the heart rate by section, workout time, average pace, maximum heart rate and speed. For example, a pedometer function which most smartwatches have, would provide the step counts, amount of burned calories and travelled distance. What other function would a watch with a PPT controller need more? Not only that, features that were provided by other smartwatches have also been delicately upgraded.

The Galaxy Watch left out any unreasonable functions and included most of the functions an urbanite of the modern society would require out of common sense. This feature can naturally appeal to watch lovers.įrankly speaking, I was very surprised that the smartwatch functions have advanced to this extent. In fact, users can rotate the bezel for GMT(universal time) or diver watches. What I liked the most was that I could control the functions by rotating the bezel. The 46mm-sized case is big but was pleasantly wearable and I liked the way the buttons were clearly manipulated. The quality of the strap is good, and the many holes of the buckle help the strap to be optimally adjusted to the wrist. It could be considered trivial but the finishing of the Galaxy Watch is quite outstanding for a brand that has only made a few watches, because most of the watches I have previously experienced lacked the understanding of such meticulous details.

This is why many professional watch brands apply such type of finishing. Moreover, if two types of finishing are applied alternately, the watch will shine more beautifully because of the angle of the watch moving on the wrist. Because of its unique pattern, scratches are less visible in the satin finishing than the polished sides. The watchmaker has applied a satin finishing for parts that jut out and can be scratched, and skillfully polished the parts less prone to scratches. Based on that criteria, the case finishing of the Galaxy Watch is satisfying. It’s to compare with the case of an analog watch manufactured by a professional watch brand of the same price level. The show ends with Tocky telling Mister Maker to go and then shows him "putting away all this stuff back in its box" (meaning the studio's objects are to be put away). After experiencing seven smartwatches including the Galaxy Watch, I have come up with certain criteria in assessing the case.
